How are RC parameters identified?

The RC Parameters tab displays the extracted Thevenin model parameters generated from HPPC characterization.

These parameters describe the battery's dynamic voltage response and are used for simulation and SOC estimation.

Purpose

The RC Parameters tab allows users to:

  • Review extracted ECM parameters.
  • Verify parameter trends.
  • Compare parameter variation with SOC.
  • Validate characterization results before simulation.

Parameter Selection

Results can be viewed for different operating conditions.

Temperature

Select the desired test temperature.

Examples:

  • 25 °C
  • 45 °C
  • 60 °C

Test Type

Select the characterization dataset.

Available options:

  • Charge
  • Discharge

The displayed parameter values update automatically when either selection changes.

Resistance Parameters

The Resistance Parameters table displays the extracted resistance values at different SOC levels.

Parameters include:

ParameterDescription
R0Ohmic resistance
R1First polarization resistance
R2Second polarization resistance

Values are displayed for SOC intervals between 0 % and 100 %.

Capacitance Parameters

The Capacitance Parameters table displays the extracted capacitance values.

Parameters include:

ParameterDescription
C1First polarization capacitance
C2Second polarization capacitance

These parameters define the transient behavior of the battery model.

Reviewing Parameter Quality

Users should verify that:

  • Parameters remain positive.
  • No unrealistic values exist.
  • Parameter variation is smooth across SOC.
  • Charge and discharge results are reasonable.

Minor parameter variations are expected due to battery dynamics and measurement noise.

Expected Outcome

After successful extraction:

  • SOC-dependent resistance parameters are generated.
  • SOC-dependent capacitance parameters are generated.
  • Parameter tables are available for lookup table generation and simulation.
