What is involved in ECM extraction?

The ECM Extraction module performs battery characterization and parameter identification using uploaded HPPC and OCV datasets.

The objective of the extraction process is to generate the parameters required for a second-order Thevenin Equivalent Circuit Model (ECM), including:

  • Open Circuit Voltage (OCV)
  • Ohmic Resistance (R0)
  • Polarization Resistance (R1)
  • Polarization Resistance (R2)
  • Polarization Capacitance (C1)
  • Polarization Capacitance (C2)

The extracted parameters are subsequently used for battery simulation and State of Charge (SOC) estimation.

ECM Extraction Workflow

The ECM Extraction module consists of six stages:

  1. Configuration
  2. Pulse Segmentation
  3. OCV-SOC Characterization
  4. RC Parameter Identification
  5. Pulse Fit Validation
  6. Summary

Each stage provides visualization and validation tools for reviewing the characterization results.

Extraction Outputs

Upon successful completion, the software generates:

  • OCV-SOC lookup tables
  • ECM parameters
  • Temperature-dependent parameter maps
  • Characterization plots
  • YAML parameter files
  • Summary reports

These outputs are used during battery simulation and SOC estimation.
